The HyperCard Mailing List
What are mailing lists?
Mailing lists are one of the oldest resources on the Internet. Subscribers can send e-mail messages to a special address where a computer automatically forwards them to everyone else on the list. Simon Hayes (who runs The HyperCard Resource Page) administers the HyperCard mailing list.
Why should I join?
Lots of reasons. You can get answers to your HyperCard questions, read the latest news and rumors, let people know about your HyperCard web site and stacks, and get to know other HyperCard folks. It's also a great opportunity to use your knowledge to help out other people when they post questions.
Who subscribes?
Some of the most knowledgeable people in the HyperCard community subscribe to the HyperCard mailing list, including professional developers and several members of Apple's HyperCard team. (Due to their busy schedule, members of the HC team can't answer individual questions, but they do monitor the list to keep in touch with HyperCard users and and they occasionally post messages and announcements.)
How do I subscribe?
You can subscribe at The HyperCard Resource Page.
What happens next?
You may get an e-mail asking you to confirm that you want to join (prankers sometimes sign up people without their knowledge). Then you'll get an e-mail welcoming you to the group and giving you more information about how the group works. Be sure to save that letter for future reference!
What are the rules of mailing-list etiquette?
* Get to know the group by reading the messages for several days before making your first post.
* If you have a question, state it as clearly and completely as possible. Include a portion of your stack's script, if appropriate.
* Never send a stack (or an attachment of any kind) to the list.
* Be polite and stay on-topic.
