wtf is sluggo?

This is a collection of witty and informative posts to the rec.games.bolo newsgroup by Charles H. Dillon aka sluggo, a famous player of Bolo, the Macintosh Internet tank game.

does sluggo really exist?

Although there has not been a positive sluggo sighting within recent years, "Chuck" is allegedly a graduate student at UCLA, doing something related to rocket science, specifically adaptive control. He is an avid UCLA basketball fan and author of the Bolo bot BK2K (BuilderKiller 2000).

There are no known pictures of sluggo.

why do we love sluggo?

One of my very first internet games (and most humiliating defeats) was against sluggo, who used to play a lot more back then ('93 or so). With his compadre T-Rex, these two redefined Bolo strategy and tactics for many years. Many oldtimers know sluggo as the guy whose open game they would join, only to find all 16 pillboxes in a 4x4 array, with sluggo slowly marching back and forth on top of the pills (this was back when it was still possible although not easy to occupy the same space as a pill or wall).

Other Bolo players know sluggo as the guy who made the most ambitious variety of Bolo maps of all sizes and shapes ranging from Slugfest (add roman numerals here) to Sunny Grove Nudist Colony.

The purpose of these web pages is to foster yet another form of sluggo worship: his rec.games.bolo posts. All posts before the spring of 1995 are unfortunately lost forever. What follows is an attempt to chronicle his more recent posts since then, a collection of nearly 200 articles and growing. Read them all in order, jump around by selecting the archive number (I to XX), or use the search utility to look for keywords.

Without any further ado...
