Or Nix. Someone. > PS Has version 1.0 come out yet? Didn't I already e-mail you a copy of 1.0? Did I ever tell anyone about that? It was probably the nastiest thing I did during the entire time I was active in Bolo. What I did was pretty simple. I took a copy of 0.99.2, the current version at the time, and cut it up with ResEdit. I changed all the comments and so forth so it looked like it was really version 1.0. Then, I went into the "code" segment, and just deleted a few bytes here and there. I renamed it to Bolo 1.0b and tested it. Sure enough, every time it was launched, it just crashed the computer, and nothing more. For a few weeks, newbies kept posting saying they heard rumors about 1.0, and could someone please, please, please send them a copy. For a little "joke" Butthead posted saying that *I* had a copy, and they should privately e-mail me. So, I'm mailbombed by clueless ones. Well, I shot out about 5 or 6 copies of this "Bolo 1.0" to them. Each one, of course, reported back saying it crashed their computer. "Oh my, what kind of Mac are you using", "Oh, I see, yeah, Stuart was using a different kind to develop, I'll be sure and report the bug to him, thanks!" Har har. Stuart might be pissed if he finds out, but I figured it wouldn't do any harm. (As long as said newbies made sure to save changes on all their documents before launching the "automatic system crasher.") Har har. Those were the days. Keep sending in those T-shirt orders! Gone but not, uh, who? -steamboatcaptainman ps. Hey Wharf! Could you post this for me? Thanks, and thanks for forwarding it. ============================================================
