IBL Season III -- First Night

1. WTF happened?

Just our luck that EFnet decided to get very messed up Sunday night, 4 people showed up who had never been in IBL and who had never contacted me before, and 2 others couldn't even get on IRC but kept trying to join games. After a 25 minute delay, we got 2 full divisions. THANKS FOR EVERYBODY'S PATIENCE! In no particular order (since 5 of 8 are not rated):

bleak/washin'/blizzard/nutz

muff/will/whoshotJR/berserkir

2. No IRC, No IBL.

To play on any given night, you MUST be on #ibl. No more going through somebody else, that's just too confusing. I will always be on irc.catt.ncsu.edu which is a public server that everybody can get on. If that server splits, try the following in this order: irc2.ais.net, irc.winternet.com (requires identd, just use new Ircle which fakes it), and irc1.cerf.net. Use port 6666 to connect faster.

3. New to IBL?

Before you can start playing, you MUST email us with your bolo nickname and your real name. You also should check out the home page at http://www.lgm.com:8080/~jyl/IBL/, particularly the IBL FAQ.

4. What about the fancy new automatic reporting and ranking system.

It's *almost* ready, but for now keep emailing me game outcomes. You're welcome to sneak a peak at the web site (see URL above) and remember to use super reload since it's changing every few minutes as I debug it (on a Mac, hold down option and click/select reload).

5. Monday night...

Hopefully we'll see lots of returning vets, including Santa, Ender, Max, etc. If you are at all interested in seeing IBL thrive, be there BEFORE 8 pm EST.

Joseph Lo, aka Jolo
