IBL Week 1 News

Dear IBL people,

NEW RATINGS.  I've eliminated a bunch of old fogies that no longer play and
added some new people.  Everybody's ratings were then rescaled between 1200
and 2000, which is about half the maximum range from previous seasons.
This should make for more dynamic changes after every game, since the top
and bottom seeds will no longer be separated by 400 points or whatever.

For Sunday night, we had a disappointingly low turnout (6 people), but
fortunately the 4 people that played had 3 close, lagfree games which
lasted nearly 2 hours.  

Monday night was a bit crazy, with 13 people showing up but only 2 divisions.
PBnJ and Montezuma's famous lag remained, so they had to drop out.  Then Orvis
had weird intermittent lag and had to drop out, so I also sat out, leaving
2 divisions instead of 3.  After all that confusion, though, all games were
played and they were all pretty close and lagfree.  Making everybody show up
at least 15 minutes early is really working, as we go 3 weeks in a row without
any ruined games.

If the Sun/Mon night times are not good, please email me privately.  Otherwise
see you again next Sunday night before 7:45 pm EDT!
