PC & MACINTOSH FONT FORMAT I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I DIGITAL FONT I LTC TWENTIETH CENTURY ¶ LANSTON 20th CENTURY Sans Serif was drawn by Sol Hess, Type Director of the Lanston Monotype Machine Company in Philadelphia. This sans serif was designed to fill the gaping hole left by the ever so successful Futura. Hess continued drawing many weights and adding versions to this series. This is the text weight. This faced was popular and I have every reason to believe it would be more popular today had we digitized more weights. There were many in the hot metal era. Lanston's present focus is on the Goudy Type faces and other traditional book faces. If this face shows any movement we will consider additions to the series.
