PC & MACINTOSH DIGITAL FONTS I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I DIGITAL FONT I ALBERTAN OLDSTYLE ¶ ALBERTAN OLDSTYLE is 'the most popular Canadian type face ever designed". This type face is a complete professional font package which includes a full compliment of ligatures, lining and oldstyle figures. Albertan Oldstyle was a very early digital font. The face has been a consistent performer serving duty in bookwork, advertising and magazines in both the America's and Europe. I stress magazines because Albertan Oldstyle shows its' face in many of them. ALBERTAN HISTORY ¶ ALBERTAN ROMAN was designed and cut in metal at the 16 pt. size by Jim Rimmer in 1982 as a proprietory type for use in his private press and foundry, Pie Tree Press & Type Foundry. Only the roman was cut for casting at the foundry. Its use was to be for the hand-setting and printing of limited edition books. At about that time, the Mac was taking hold very strongly and it seemed like a sound idea to render the type in digital format. Albertan was released a year or so later by Lanston Type Company of Vancouver. JIM RIMMER |
