WIND SHIELD & SISSIES
EARLY YACHTING DILEMMAS

I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I

I PURCHASED THIS VESSEL with knowledge of the good reputation of Elco, (The Electric Launch Company) although I was unaware of Elco's early experiments with high speed motorboats. Also I was unaware of the factories production of vessels for military purposes. And never I imagined the company would be faced with a PR dilemma by providing these luxury craft with wind shields preventing the owner from getting wet but opening him to an unwelcomed discomfort and undeserved reputation of being regarded as a sissy.

I would much prefer being a dry sissy than a wet yachtsman. Besides there are a multitude of ways to get wet wind shields or not. Some ways do not require leaving the dock.

RAMMED AT DOCK

DISASTER STRIKES AGAIN. Eliza was rammed and sunk at her berth at Fishermens' Terminal in Seattle two days before her scheduled sailing to Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia, her intended home port.

She has been sold to a local Seattle boat builder for a complete restoration.
