& DRINKS WINE
I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I ¶ THIS PHOTO CATCHES Mr. Giampa celebrating the purchase of his first hand-fed platen press. He bought it from George Kuthan. Giampa had already accumulated some foundry type, Kennerley Old Style, a composing stick, brass galley, brass point & pica pole, ink brayer and a tin of German black ink. In this photograph Giampa had just taken delivery of his Westman & Baker platen press. Barely fourteen Giampa is imbibing in an illegal celebratory glass of wine. Yes, those are granny glasses and he is smoking a pipe! His mother thought he was a bad boy. Giampa says: 'Don't you just hate kids like that?'
