THIS IS A DESIGNERS PROOF of an envelope flap. The squaring, or optical blocking of typographical units is overcome in this arrangement. It is so successful it works even in this one colour proof.

These envelope flaps had to be opened in order to print the job. Feeding envelopes in this manner for hairline registration took extra care and attention to overcome the spring from the fold.

GRANJON FLEURONS IN DESIGN STAGE

THIS PHOTOGRAPH SHOWS an ornamental flap emblem developed from printers' fleurons. Printing with multiple coloured ornaments is hairline registration on the press. Envelope flaps are always a challenge.
