MONOTPE KEYBOARD

THE MONOTYPE KEYBOARD adopted the Qwerty keyboard arrangement familiar to those who had used a common typewriter. This sped up the learning process also allowing for quicker assembly of keystrokes.

Originally it was thought these machines could be installed into an office environment. Tolbert had invented other office systems such as an adding machine. He invented a process of manufacturing relief characters for typewriters which was also used on the Monotype Keyboard. Plus he worked in the military developing processes for stencil printing processes.

Theoretically this is possible. It was not uncommon to set text in one city, sending the spool to another for casting. Such as book publishing, particularly on the Duplex Keyboard.
