I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I
¶ JIM RIMMER is unquestionably one of the most prolific type designers in history. He expedites work so quickly that it gets confusing. He functioned as the Type Director in those days.
The majority of Jim's designs are freshly original, his approach to historical type revivals 'doggedly faithful '.
One of his generous attributes is that he gives credit where credit is due.
Jim is best known in the digital font world for his type design, Albertan Oldstyle.
Jim Rimmer was Giampa's daily companion and associate since1974 until Giampa relocated in 1994.
GIAMPA SAYS: ' Typefaces seem to just fall out of Jim's sleeve. He keeps coming up with aces.'

My office porch at Lanston was only a block away from Jim's studio. Lots of talk about type in a pretty inconspicuous part of town. If the Koi in the pond behind Jim could talk they would be amongst the most knowledgable typophiles in town.
For many reasons I am thankful they can't talk.
