TERMINAL JOHN
SHIP'S ENGINEER

I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I

JOHN WORKED HARD, and he loved Eliza's engine room. The old Lathrop Petrol Engine was his pride and joy.

Quite a character, he lived on an old military landing craft with his wife and two children. They all loved it. The son would sail around, gunkhole with little boats. Life for him was like one big summer camp.

John made good money too, living on the landing craft was his choice. Fisherman's terminal would never be the same without John.

Anyway his big toothless grin was always welcomed by me. Didn't fancy cops much.

One thing for sure, John and I were chums.

MAKING READY FOR THE SAILING

JOHN GAVE A TOUR of the engine room the same day. Mistakenly I had left a switch to the magneto on. This switch was supposed to be off. The engine had two ignitions. Anyway that fellow stuck down in the engine room was getting himself fried like a weinnie on a stick. Hair actually does stand up on end.

For the life of me I had trouble making out what his problem was. One thing for sure he was not so keen on the engine as John and I.
