SHAMELESSLY USEFUL

I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I

LOFTS BECAME MY HOME when working late at the plant on Pender Street. Shortly afterwards the loft shown on the right became occupied by the Lanston Monotype keyboard room. My official home was aboard my 36' classic wooden yacht the Argo II.

Later yet I installed glass doors in the loft wall where the books are shown and built a suite over the loft behind.

Preferring to live close to my work I became a loft lizard in similar quarters that decorated my various shops. Boats the exception. Living aboard several for over ten years in British Columbia and Seattle.

ALTHOUGH THIS LOFT came to serve several different functions over the years it eventually established itself as the ongoing Monotype Keyboard room. John Dreyfus, Printing Historian typed additional content for his book 'Typographical Bouquets' while sitting at the edge of the loft.
