NEVER OUT OF MY SYSTEM

I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I

GERALD GIAMPA has been talking about building a 150 foot Grand Banks cargo schooner. He does not realize that he has to get back to his job of typography.

Hopefully he will be satisfied looking at his photographs.

Giampa took this photo of the Nippon Marou, a four masted Japanese training vessel, while she visited Burrard Inlet in Vancouver.

Square rigged cargo ships remind Giampa of similar economics in his letterpress operations. He feels he could have continued earning a living in letterpress if he could have found people interested in becoming master letterpress printers.

Similarly the lack of trained workers was the downfall of the tall ship cargo carriers. Giampa highly recommends reading The Last Grain Race by Eric Newby.

Note: Giampa has recently purchased a 1927 42' Elco motor yacht in Seattle, USA.
