NOT EASY TO SET. More to "my taste", (Pardon the pun!) than the idiotic conception Eric Gill had about justification.

You don't think his idea was good do you?

I didn't think so!

Setting this wine glass shape on a Monotype Machine was no easy task. For that matter, setting it on a computer would not be an easy task. The lines were Monotype set and reset until the outline of the wine glass was smooth, yet the word spacing, even.

Shown is the ampersand in correct usage. They were common in careful hand settings, and Monotype machine settings by careful operators.

Today the ampersand has fallen on hard times. It has become an orphan of the computer generation.

This beautiful character sits on the curb side.
