PRINTER'S INK BRAYER
GELATIN INK ROLLER

I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I GERALD GIAMPA I

INK BRAYER on a brass ink slab. The brayer is used for pulling a quick proof on a small proof press, in this case a Nowland.

Most design time was spent working in this area. Nowlands were simple and effective.

Giampa had been trained to pull reproduction proofs on a proof planer. That takes some skill. However the brayer shown here would not be suitable for such work, it is too worn out.

EVOLUTION OF THE SHEEP'S FOOT
Sheep's foot, ink brayer
FEW PRINTERS USED THESE PROPERLY

HOW MANY SHEEP have you seen grazing the grassy hills on a quad of these devices? Not too many one would think! A sheep's foot is a leather device used by early printers for inking type formes.

BRAYER, Sheeps foot? I get it.

If you need computer printing then Epson ink is a good choice. There's Epson printer ink available online for any printer you have, Epson toner as well as Epson ink cartridges depending on your model. You can also get Epson ink locally but why drive around when you can have Epson ink delivered to your house?
