JEFFERSON GOTHIC ITALIC is a digital rendering by Ikarus software. Peter Karrow, founder of URW, had a deep grasp of italic curves. Other font creation software makes obliqued typefaces appear as if your were looking into crazy mirrors.

Ikarus gave the design department control over the outcome. The Ikarus 'italic function' was not a 'one fits all' solution.

It invited input.

Still, all that said, if upper and lowercase italic is required, new drawings are essential. For instance the lowercase a, e & f slopped does not make an Italic a, e & f.

However Jefferson Gothic is without a lowercase making it ideal for implementing the Ikarus 'italic function'. Today, most designers use the 'italic function' for the skeletal structure when designing their italic uppercase.

Jefferson Gothic Italic includes alternate round capitals located by the lower case keys.
