PC & MACINTOSH FONT FORMATS I LANSTON TYPE COMPANY I DIGITAL FONT I NEW CASLON ROMAN ¶ NEW CASLON was cut for the Inland Printer. This was an attempt, one of the more successful, to regularize Caslon Oldstyle. The ascenders are shorter which was the tendacy at the time of this cutting. American Caslon, part of this digital package, reversed this trend. American Caslon is the same face with longer ascenders. Caslon was made bolder for this cutting because papers had leaned towards smoother surfaces unlike the rough textured papers used for printing the original Caslon Oldstyle.
