Often I have wondered about such things. People misplaced in time? People misplaced in time like eye glasses, keys, or hats on the head without reasonable explanation. These kinds of things should never get lost, but as we all know too well, they do.
Thankfully I have never lost my words or my admiration of Goudy's work, but my words have been mute that nakedly express my admission that I prefer some of Rimmer's over some of Goudy's finest drawings. Having known Rimmer most of my working life makes it awkward to trumpet his talents. Either I suffer from bias or from 'same town syndrome'. But with wisdom acquired by age I have come to realize that it is for identical reasons I hold both Goudy and Rimmer in such high esteem. That it is less about these men than it is about their letters that free fall like autumn leaves in a freshening wind.
