¶ GERALD GIAMPA had his own method of setting up rollers for a cylinder press. The method he used contradicts all manuals on this subject. It was a trade secret and he still intends to keep it as such.
The Original Heidelberg Cylinder Press was not the easiest machine for cleaning rollers in spite of the fact they had an automatic wash up. There is clean, and then, there is clean. Without the automatic wash up however, quite a mess would be imaginable. The rollers still needed to be ragged down.
Giampa says: 'I suppose the automatic wash up would be sufficient if you were only printing black.'
