¶ ISLAND BOATS fish little, race lots. Some compete after over one hundrend years of service. New boats are modelled after old. I am not sure of what the critea for the race is, length, rig wood, but I suspect some rules apply, although rumour has it they are carrying more canvas than ever.
This vessel is not entirely traditional in that you can see she is set up for an engine.
The fellow that built this one is only one of very few that build them commercially. Several a year. A small yard, well equipped, speaks Swedish. I was unable to converse with the fellow for that reason. Now I would do somewhat better. Hanko is a very nice sea shore village. Bigger than most, more luxurious in many ways.
