LANSTON MONOMATIC KEYBOARD

THE MONOMATIC TYPESETTING system was unquestionably the world's most advanced letterpress typesetting system in history.

English Monotype did not manufacture the Monomatic Keyboard. This keyboard was strictly a product of the Lanston Monotype Machine Company of Philadelphia, USA.

THE MONOMATIC KEYBOARD and Caster was a leap frog development for the letterpress industry. Unfortunately a long bitter strike at Lanston bled the firm's financial and research resources. The company had released the new system just before the strike. This was the reason Lanston was sold to a Canadian company in Toronto. The Lanston Type Library has enjoyed two Canadian owners. Gerald Giampa being the second, presently Lanston is based in Finland.

There is intrigue and mystery shrouding The Monomatic's inception. The story possesses all the ingredients for a suspenseful espionage movie.
